Description

The “tea tray plus” is constructed out of cherry and walnut. The tray is solid cherry (with a hardwood panel bottom) and has walnut handles, which are held to the tray with glue and internal dowel pins. The corners of the tray are reinforced for strength and elegance and it is finished with polyurethane for superior protection and easy cleaning. The grate, which fits into the tray, is solid walnut and is put together with a food safe waterproof glue and small internal stainless steel pins.  It is finished with mineral oil. The “plus” comes from their unique design, which gives these trays at least five distinct uses:

1. Without the grate it functions as a solidly built, easy to grip serving tray.
2. With the grate in place it functions as a bread cutting and serving tray. The slots in the grate allow bread crumbs to fall into the tray beneath and not onto your table.
3. The grate can be used independently as a large trivet to protect your table from hot dishes.

4. The grate can be used independently as a cooling rack for baked goods.

5. The grate also fits into a standard 12″ x 17″ cookie sheet, which allows meats to be carved and juices collected for gravy making.

6. With the grate in place and turned over there is a recess into which a standard 9″ x 13″ dish fits. This allows the tray to be used to serve casseroles, or any other dish without the need of hot mitts. The recess prevents the dish from moving and coming into contact with the server’s hands.
