Description
Butcher block cutting boards are designed and constructed so that the cutting surface is formed by the end grain of the woods used. This creates the most stable and durable wooden cutting surface possible. It also is the easiest on your cutlery, as the blade will not dull as fast as with more traditional wooden boards. All my butcher block cutting boards are constructed with waterproof, food safe glue. They have non-skid bumpers on the bottom attached with stainless steel screws that will never rust. The bumpers serve not only to keep the board stationary on the counter, but also to elevate it so that air can freely circulate around it keeping it dry. All are constructed from different combinations of the following woods: Cherry, maple, walnut, purple heart, padauk, and birch. They are treated with mineral oil and are approximately 1 ¾” thick.
